The J5 and P900 issue has been resolved. The fix will be included in the v1.1 release, which is expected in about a week or so.

That’s a good question. I have both a D7100 w/WU-1a and a D7200. The D7100 doesn’t appear to have a separate menu to select images for upload like the D7200 has and as you indicated the D7100 doesn’t let you go into the playback menu when WiFi is on. I tried turning the D7100’s Wifi off and seeing if the playback menu has an option to select files for upload (like the D7200’s playback menu does) and it doesn’t appear to be there. That’s a shame. I’ll have to add this to the FAQ.

    Hi Ricardo,

Not a dumb question at all. All OSX applications are actually a ‘bundle’, which in terms of the filesystem are actually folders. The fact that Application bundles are folders is hidden from the user by default (but not developers, since we’re aware of how bundles are structured). To gain access to the bundle, ctrl-click the Airnef app in your Applications folder and select ‘Show Package Contents’. That will show you the first ‘Contents’ directory of the bundle, from which you can navigate to the Resources directory to gain access to your first 100 downloaded images.

Btw the next version of Airnef will avoid this by selecting a different default download folder the first time the application is run, probably the OSX ‘Pictures’ folder. The fact that I allowed the default directory to be the Airnef application bundle was an oversight on my part (and the same is true for the Windows version as well, which has different side effects).

Agreed, just changed those as well. Anyone wanting the two-digit form of the year will be able to use the subscript feature, such as @capturedate_y:2@

Thanks for posting the debug log. It appears to be the same issue with the J5. I’m still trying to get a hold of one…

Thanks for the feedback. I think your yyyymmdd format as the default full-date specifier makes more sense, since as you indicated it allows for chronological sorting. I’ve changed the default to those. Naturally others might have a different preference and so they can use the component date specifiers instead to build their own custom string. As for the time I’ve been back and forth on the default including colons since as you indicated it’s not supported in Windows filenames (OSX allows). For now I’ve decided to remove the colons from the default timestamp specifiers.

Btw one consequence of using ‘@’ as the specifier prefix is that I had to change the prefix used to load options files from ‘@’ to ‘!’. So in v1.1 to load command-line options from a file you’d use !myfileopts.txt instead of @myfileopts.txt for example. I don’t like to change primary command line options like this between versions but @replacere@ consumes a lot of special characters for the regex support.

Thanks. This might be the same issue as the J5. I’m still trying to get a hold of a J5 – it should only take a day or two to resolve once I have one. To help me see if it’s the same issue can you set the logging level to ‘debug’ and retry the download and post the resulting log here? Thanks!

Thanks Carlos. That’s interesting to hear because the OSX application version of Airnef I distribute is bundled with its own 2.7.10 Python interpreter. The fact that your setup didn’t work until you installed Python 2.7.10 yourself leads me to believe that Airnef is using the system-installed Python version instead of the one I bundled with Airnef. I’ll check into this.

    Hi Zeca,

I plan to add ddserver support in the future (I own a TP-Link MR3040 with ddserver on it).

Awesome, thanks for posting this. Btw if you include the path to airnefcmd.exe (or add the airnef path to your system path) then you can put the paramter file anywhere – that way you wont have to make the program directory writable. Also, you can support directory names that have spaces in them by putting quotes around the path. I didn’t document it but the extension list is case-insensitive so you can include just jpg or JPG in the –extlist.

I have the basics of the real-time download working. I have to work on making it fault-tolerant like the normal download path – aside from handling marginal signal cases (which is even more likely for real-time shooting where the camera is further away), it’ll also allow the user turn their camera’s WiFi on/off whenever they want while shooting, so they can optionally have some time to review and delete photos before they get uploaded. On Nikon bodies the camera doesn’t let you delete photos when WiFi is on, which is kind of a bummer – I was going to have the logic automatically handle images being deleted in the camera as they’re uploaded, like how Eye-Fi does.

Your idea of launching ViewNX for the downloaded images is great! I think I’ll add this feature in airnefcmd by including an option that allows an arbitrary program to be launched for each image downloaded, with the downloaded filename passed to the launched program (plus maybe some optional args that the user wants included as well).

    Hi Stephen,

This feature is already planned for a future release. In fact I’m going to try and get it in the next release, which should happen in a few weeks.

hmmm…so when you drag Airnef out of the downloaded .DMG and into your Applications folder (or into the Applications shortcut in the .DMG) you get an error then?

Spent some more time reverse-engineering Sony support and made lots of progress. Updates posted to the developer page.

What happens when you click on the Airnef icon in your Applications folder?
